Artist Statement
To some people art is just random colors in random places. To me art is so much more. It is the birth of creativity, the stepping stone to individuality, and no matter how poorly others may see your creation, it's yours and no one can take that away from you. If you deem it beautiful, it is. Art is the world as I see it. Instead of words giving voice to my experience, I use imagery. I cannot fathom my life without it. I was a Freshman in high school when I discovered my passion and inclination for painting. I woke up every morning at five o'clock to watch my favorite artist paint an amazing piece in a 30 minute show. Bob Ross is the very reason why I paint and why I love art so much, his intensely realistic landscapes inspired me to be my own artist and to paint what ever and where ever I choose. I started entering pieces in many district competitions and placed in all of them. Mostly, my pieces consist of oil paint and normal pre stretched canvas. My concentration is Landscape paintings. Among my favorite and most often used colors are: yellow ochre, burnt siena, and burnt umber. Not only are they great neutral and earthy colors, I personally think they are very pretty colors.
